As an educator, Mala delivers workshops and presentations regarding experimental processes and the future of material culture. With her research in recycled plastics and bioplastics, she has developed workshops introducing techniques participants can use to turn household waste into valuable new materials. The participants gain a solid understanding of fundamental techniques that will empower them to make their own material. During these workshops, participants learn how to identify different types of plastics, in addition to which plastics can be recycled in a workshop environment. This includes learning the necessary steps of how to separate plastics, and how to form these materials into a product using hand craft in addition to digital manufacturing techniques. Aim of these workshops is to inform how our world is changing rapidly from the pollution these products are producing and ways we can help reduce this pollution.
